(Ahsaab) 33 : 18
Surely Allah has known those among you who stay behind, and who were saying to their friends ‘you come to us’; and they won’t come to the battle except seldom.
This verse depicts the behavior of the hypocrites during the period of Messenger Muhammed. They were not only reluctant to participate in the battle with Messenger and his companion, but they were also discouraging Messenger’s companion from participating in the battle. The hypocrites in every period are not ready to face any risk or disaster or to do any strenuous Jihad in the path of Lord Allah with their bodies and wealth. See explanation 2: 94-95; 8: 48-50; 9: 67-68.
